Do your filters remove Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)?Updated 2 years ago
Our 3 Stage Under the Sink System filters are powerful enough to filter 232+ contaminants, and smart enough to allow beneficial minerals pass through in your water. That means that healthy nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and potassium will remain in your water. After all, they are a big part of what makes water so healthy!
TDS meters detect the number of electrolytes in your water. They do so by sending an electric signal between two prongs. That signal speeds up when electrolytes are present and slows down when non-electrolytes are present. This method of testing your water has a few issues. First, it only detects parts per million (ppm) when some contaminants can be dangerous in just parts per billion (ppb) or even parts per trillion (ppt). Second, it assumes that all electrolytes are bad. That is simply not the case since essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and potassium are electrolytes! Third, it will not detect other contaminants (e.g., benzene) that are not electrolytes but are still harmful to your health. For all those reasons and more, we don’t buy in to the TDS method of testing your water.
